Thousand Oaks and Camarillo’s Disaster Assistance Response Teams (DART) conducted a first ever joint training exercise in February. The two teams practiced nighttime evacuation of victims from an office building after a simulated earthquake. Over 20 members from both teams were suited in appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including radios. The drill emphasized team safety, radio communication, Scene Size-up, building search, first aid triage, ICS procedures,and hot wash debriefing. Members from both teams expressed praise for the realistic 2 hour training and were eager to conduct other joint training activities.
